Call for Contributions to a Forthcoming Special Issue Entitled:

"Effects of Water Level Level Management On Lake Littorals & Downstream Rivers Areas"

Submission Deadline: December 1st 2022

The CNR-Water Research Institute and the University of Insubria are involved in the activities of the Interreg Italy-Switzerland Project Parchi Verbano Ticino on the effects of lake-river-water management on the flora and fauna inhabiting Lake Maggiore, one of the large and deep lakes at the NW edge of the Po Plain (Italy), and the downstream Ticino River. The main aim of the project is to define transboundary shared rules for water and environmental management, taking into account the complexity of the Lake Maggiore-Ticino River system, with possible interesting outcomes also for analogous lake-river systems.

The main focus of the volume is to report how the study of the water management (e.g., water level fluctuation) may help to understand the functioning of lake and river ecosystems and the main issues related to the ecology of these environments. Original articles, short communications and reviews on the effects of water regulation on lake, reservoir and river environments and biocoenosis are thus welcome.
