FBA Chairperson and Treasurer retire after many years of service

Farewell, Evan and Ron!

After many years of service, Freshwater Biological Association trustees, Evan Dollar (Chair of the Board) and Ron Middleton (Treasurer) retired at the October 2023 board meeting and AGM.

Although their contributions will be greatly missed, we are incredibly grateful for their 12 years of combined support.

FBA staff presented these two stalwarts - Evan (below, left) and Ron (below, right) with thank you gifts at a celebratory dinner before the October AGM.

Simon Johnson, Executive Director of the Freshwater Biological Association said, “Evan and Ron’s contributions to ensure the good governance, strategic direction and financial management of the Freshwater Biological Association cannot be overstated. They leave FBA at a time when the Association has the organisational resilience and strategy that is necessary to sustain and grow an NGO in today’s uncertain world. Personally, and on behalf of all at FBA, I’d like to thank them for their wise council, commitment and friendship”.

Freshwater Biological Association board member, Chris Dessent, will be replacing Evan as chairperson, for an interim period of one year.

There remains a vacancy on the Board for a Treasurer with appropriate financial management and planning experience. Please contact Simon Johnson for more details and role specification at: sjohnson.fba.org.uk
